About Us
Founded in 1931, First Baptist Church of Española is an autonomous Baptist church in partnership with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Baptist Convention of New Mexico, and the Santa Fe Baptist Association.
FBC Española is a congregationally governed body of believers who follow the leadership of our Pastor as God guides him. We subscribe to the Baptist Faith and Message.

A Word from Our Pastor
Thank you for taking time to visit our web site! First Baptist Church is a Christ-centered, Gospel-driven, Bible-based church serving the Espanola Valley since 1931. We are a fellowship of believers who sincerely desire to learn God’s truth and put it into practice. Our goal as a church is to be a place to connect with God and one another. There are four primary ways we seek to do just that.
First, we gather weekly to WORSHIP God. We meet to give Him our praise and honor as we sing and reflect on His many blessings. We are reminded to give our lives to Him because He has given His Son for us that we might receive forgiveness of our sins and eternal life with Him.
Secondly, we grow in our faith as we LEARN God’s Word, the Bible, through the regular preaching and teaching ministries of the church. We believe God’s Word is relevant and applicable to life today and learning God’s Word is vital to a life well-lived to the glory of God.
Thirdly, we gather to develop FRIENDSHIPS that encourage and motivate us toward godly living and a joy-filled life. We believe it is impossible to truly live the Christian life apart from meaningful relationships with other believers.

Fourthly, we seek to SERVE one another in various ways whether through helping a member with a meal after the birth of a child or through volunteering to teach a Sunday School class. Jesus came "not to be served, but to serve" and we believe Christ’s church is an ideal setting to do the same.
As we are involved in regular worship, learning, friendships, and serving we grow in personal godliness and joy and the church grows in health and fruitfulness. These are exciting days at FBC and we are eagerly looking forward to where God will lead us as a church family in the years to come. We Believe
The Bible
We believe that the Holy Bible is the verbally inspired Word of God; that it is inerrant; and that it is our sole authority for faith and practice.
God
We believe there is only one true God; eternally existing in three Persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – each of whom possesses equally all of the divine attributes.
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, that He was born of a virgin, that He lived a sinless life, died for sinners, rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and that He will return to the earth one day.
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is fully God and that He enlightens the minds of sinners, and indwells, seals, comforts, and guides believers into the truth.
Man
We believe that man was created in the image of God, that we sinned, bringing upon ourselves physical and spiritual death and that all persons are sinners and alienated from God, needing His salvation.
Salvation
We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins and conquered sin and death through His resurrection. All who trust in Him receive salvation or eternal life as a free gift and are secure in Him forever. Salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone.
The Church
We believe that all believers in the present age are members of the body of Christ, the church. Believers are called to fellowship with a local church for worship, edification and evangelism.
Human Destiny
We believe that at death all believers enter the presence of God and all unbelievers are separated from God and that these estates, known as heaven and hell, are eternal and irrevocable.
